January 2026 Chapter Activity Summaries
![]() Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) – January 13 The chapter hosted its January Youth Leadership Institute session for middle school students ages 11–13. The focus was on career exploration, featuring a self-assessment activity, open discussion, and a career panel of members with and an outside special guest, Morgan Mauldin. Students engaged in meaningful dialogue as they explored future goals and leadership development. Founders’ Day Celebration – January 15 The Membership Committee hosted a beautiful Founders’ Day Celebration CHIPP™ Packing – January 18 Under the Empower Our Families Initiative, members packaged 120 CHIPP™ Power Packs benefiting 12 students at Sun Valley Elementary School. Each pack provided nutritious food items to help address food insecurity, reflecting our continued commitment to uplifting youth and strengthening families. ![]() Chapter Meeting – Reactivation Sunday, January 18 The first meeting of 2026 kicked off in high spirits as members arrived "Pretty in Paraphernalia" and celebrated the New Year together. At the meeting, warmly, we welcomed 15 visiting members. January birthdays were celebrated, and MLK Day of Service donations were collected. Following the meeting, the chapter did a pop-up dinner and headed to Walk-On’s to continue the fellowship, laughter, and sisterly good vibes. What a beautiful way to kick off the year as we continue to “GROW" together! ![]() G - Growing in Sisterhood R - Rooted in Purpose O - On Purpose Learning W - With Excellence We Serve MLK Day of Service – January 19 Members gathered at the Health Center of Eastview in Birmingham to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through service. With 50 members participating, the chapter donated personal care items, engaged residents through games and fellowship, and shared joy alongside our community partners. Truly, we enacted our message - "Everybody Can Serve". Special guest appearance was made from the Pinson Valley High School Cheerleading Team.
| February 2026 Chapter Activity Summaries Pre-Conference Tree Planting – February 6 ![]() The Alpha Beta Xi Omega Chapter joined members Participants planted twenty-seven trees in honor of the 27th South Eastern Regional Director, Dr. Tracey Morant Adams. This symbolic gesture celebrated her leadership while creating a lasting contribution to the city’s green spaces. The morning was filled with fellowship and purpose as members worked side-by-side to beautify the park and strengthen bonds across chapters, highlighting the power of collective service. HerStory Bench Dedication Honoring Dr. Tracey Morant Adams – February 7 The Alpha Beta Xi Omega Chapter proudly congratulated our 27th South Eastern Regional Director, Dr. Tracey Morant Adams, on the dedication of her HerStory Commemorative Marker and Bench at the University of Montevallo. This beautiful tribute honored her leadership, service, and unwavering commitment to strengthening our communities and sisterhood.
AKA Day at the Capitol – February 12 Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® traveled to Montgomery, Alabama, to participate in AKA Day at the Capitol, joining chapters and leaders from across the South Eastern Region in advocacy and service. Under the leadership of South Eastern Regional Director Dr. Tracey Morant Adams, members gathered with purpose to actively engage the legislative process, raising collective voices for justice, equity, and policies that uplift the communities we serve. The day served as a powerful demonstration of stewardship, collaboration, and commitment to social justice and meaningful change.
Chapter Meeting – February 15 The February chapter meeting was filled with sisterly connection, purpose, and impact. Members celebrated Educational Advancement Foundation (EAF) Month with reminders on supporting the EAF, including participation in the EAF Letter Bank. Members wore red in recognition of American Heart Month and gathered after the meeting to film a fun, “This or That” TikTok in support of Pink Goes Red and Heart Health Awareness. Also, February birthdays were celebrated with photos and birthday sashes, making the meeting both meaningful and memorable.
Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) – February 19 On February 19, the Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) engaged middle school participants in a meaningful session focused on developing leadership awareness and personal responsibility. Through interactive learning and guided conversations, students strengthened confidence, teamwork, and decision-making skills while gaining tools to support their growth as future leaders. Generation Next Pink Goes Red Event – February 21 On February 21, GenNext hosted the chapter in observance of Pink Goes Red for Heart Health with an energizing Pilates experience at true40 Pilates in Trussville, Alabama. The event promoted heart health awareness while encouraging wellness, movement, and sisterly fellowship. Through guided Pilates instruction, members learned means by which intentional movement supports cardiovascular health by improving circulation, managing blood pressure, reducing stress, and building strength, balance, and endurance. The experience reinforced the importance of prioritizing physical wellness as part of a healthy lifestyle while fostering connection across generations. |
