Empowered Women, Empowering Our Community
Pearls in Action: April Chapter Highlights
April 3 – Pre-Conference Service Project: “Wear Pink, Spend Black” The Alpha Beta Xi Omega Chapter participated in “Wear Pink, Spend Black,” supporting Black-owned businesses and reinvesting in the communities that continue to uplift us. We are especially proud to celebrate our very own Sister Ashley in her entrepreneurial journey, and we remain committed to supporting one another and the communities we serve. #MagicPowerSpend
The Alpha Beta Xi Omega Chapter Youth Leadership Institute scholars engaged in an enriching lesson focused on expressing their best selves in everyday life. They explored wellness and physical fitness through guided stretches and Pilates, while learning how proper nutrition fuels the body. Also, scholars stepped into the role of “food critics,” thoughtfully evaluating options, sharing their perspectives, and building confidence in reading food labels to make healthy choices.
Over 40 attendees joined the Alpha Beta Xi Omega Chapter’s “Pretty and Powerful: A Wellness Experience,” hosted by the GenNext Committee. This virtual event focused on mental wellness, stress management, women’s health, preventative care, and work-life balance. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions led by experienced professionals, gaining practical tools to support their overall well-being and prioritize self-care.
April 18 – Arbor Day The lovely ladies of the Alpha Beta Xi Omega Chapter were excited to plant a tree at William J. Christian School in Birmingham, AL, on April 18 to help clean the air, provide wildlife habitat, and cool our city. We are determined to grow a better future for all. #AKA1908; #SoaringwithAKA; #EnhanceOurEnvironment; #AKAandArborDay
April 19 – Get to Know Your Candidates Forum We were honored to welcome 27 candidates from various districts for our “Get to Know Your Candidates” Forum. This event provided a powerful opportunity to hear diverse perspectives, connect with community leaders, and remain informed on issues impacting our communities.
Our April chapter meeting was a beautiful reflection of sisterhood in bloom. Sisters graced the room in soft spring hues, filling the space with warmth, elegance, and radiant smiles. In the spirit of service, we proudly collected food items in support of our upcoming South Eastern Regional Conference Service Project, demonstrating our continued commitment to serving with purpose. We recognized our immediate past president for achieving her doctorate in Occupational Therapy. Also, we celebrated our April birthdays, honoring the lives and light of our phenomenal sisters. As always, we conducted the business of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® with intention—casting our votes for Regional candidates and ensuring our voices are heard as we move forward together. Service. Sisterhood. Purpose In Action. April 29–30 – 94th South Eastern Regional Conference Members of the Alpha Beta Xi Omega Chapter will attend the 94th South Eastern Regional Conference, continuing our commitment to leadership, service, and sisterhood on a regional level. |
