Empowered Women, Empowering Our Community
Pearls in Action: October Chapter Highlights
October gives us an opportunity to turn awareness into action as we recognize both Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout the month, we honor survivors, remember those we have lost, and encourage our community to lead with compassion, awareness, and support. Domestic violence can affect anyone, and creating safer communities begins with recognizing the signs, promoting healthy and respectful relationships, and helping connect individuals with trusted resources.
This October, we stand together — supporting survivors, celebrating strength, sharing knowledge, and reminding one another that awareness is most powerful when it inspires action. October 4 | Service Looks Good on Us! The ladies of Alpha Beta Xi Omega Chapter rolled up their sleeves and joined ELI Thrive for Fall Serve Day, bringing plenty of energy and helping hands to the East Lake Community Garden, surrounding neighborhood properties, and Barrett Elementary School. From preparing the garden for the winter season to refreshing and beautifying community spaces, our Sorors were happy to get to work and make a difference. October 6 |Alabama State Senior Citizen Games Eight-chapter members volunteered to help facilitate the Masters Games of Alabama, where senior citizen finalists from across the state gathered for friendly competition. Chapter members assisted with registration, shuffleboard, cornhole, Rook, and served snacks and lunch. Chapter member, Michelle Bonam, even joined the fun by participating in shuffleboard and cornhole. Other chapter members, Valerie Paige and Joi Henderson, shared that the experience was very rewarding and expressed plans to volunteer again each year. |
