The Alpha Beta Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated^® proudly hosted our community mental health program, “Loving Yourself: Mind, Body, and Soul”.

Filled with impactful conversations, wellness resources, and encouragement, this experience reminded us that caring for your mental health means caring for your whole self—mind, body, and soul.

Together, we explored the effects of both acute and chronic stress, healthy coping mechanisms, and methods to manage stress through mindfulness, deep breathing, rest, self-care, healthy sleep habits, emotional wellness, and staying grounded spiritually. If left unattended, stress can have lasting effects on the mind and body, contributing to anxiety, poor sleep, high blood pressure, fatigue, heart disease, and burnout.  Consequently, intentional care is essential for our mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. 

We were honored to create a space centered on healing, balance, empowerment, and prioritizing mental wellness. Special thanks to our guest speaker, Bria Hines, and our vendors, Adrian Ward, and Body Butter by Kim, for helping make this experience meaningful and impactful. May we all continue choosing rest, peace, wellness, and intentional care for ourselves and one another. 

May 17 - Chapter Meeting

May’s chapter meeting theme, “Blooming in Sisterhood,” was a beautiful celebration of connection, joy, and sisterhood. Members came dressed in their mother’s favorite color or floral attire, adding a special and heartfelt touch to the evening. Also, we celebrated all of our May birthdays together, ending the day with a sweet treat and fellowship at the Black-owned ice cream shop, Bruster’s Real Ice Cream.

  

May 19 - Soaring to the Polls 

The Alpha Beta Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated^® understood the assignment!

We exercised our right to vote and proudly showed up at the polls. Every voice matter, every vote counts, and the work continues!
